Equine Wellness and Medicine

At SMVS, our doctors provide scheduled and emergency on-farm care to your horse within our local practice area 24 hours a day, every day. We focus on preventative health care and maintenance, through annual vaccinations, worming, dentistry and nutritional consultations. We also address health problems involving any of your horses body systems. Examinations for purchase, medical and reproductive evaluations, and minor surgeries are among the many services we perform in the field.
SMVS is also one of the few ambulatory practices to offer the Serum Amyloid A (SAA) test. This reliable blood test can accurately assist ambulatory doctors with diagnosing infectious versus inflammatory conditions in the horse with the use of a simple and quick on-site blood test. Thus, allowing immediate treatment and care for your horse. Although we do provide limited "in-house" laboratory tests, we ship labs to UC Davis, Cornell, Idexx among others.
We also attend to many emergency medicine cases, including lacerations, colics, acute severe lameness, acute eye problems, and horses exhibiting neurologic or severe medical signs. The scope of equine medicine today is very diverse, and our doctors devote their time and effort to deliver excellent care to your horse in need. If your horse needs care, we are happy to assist you both, please just contact our office.
